Housewarming Party
Residential Property

So you've been in your new home for nearly a month, you've finally managed to settle in  and empty the last removal box, but still you haven't had any friends over to check out your new abode! Maybe you dont want the hassle of constant disruption of arrivals and departures of guests so why not get them all round in one go? A housewarming party could be the way forward ...

Land and Brand New Homes top tips:

• Once you decide on a date - decide on the time of day. This can drastically change the mood of the party in terms of what you serve as well as the dress code

• So, an informal or formal event? This will depend on what time you decide to host your party and it can determine what food you serve

• Send out invitations or phone at least one week prior to the party, bearing in mind plenty of notice is always appreciated. You'll probably get more people that way too!

• Make sure that beverages do not dry up, so keep plenty in stock - you can always ask your guests to bring a bottle

• No matter what time of day or night you decide to throw your housewarming party, to make things simpler for yourself, you can generally stick with finger food. (we have some great ideas so scroll to the bottom for some tips)

• Make sure you have enough plates, cutlery and glasses. If you think you may not, hire some - perhaps from a local supermarket - or buy plastic (quicker for the cleaning up!)

• Make sure you have plenty of bin liners, which will help cut the time of your after party clean up

• If it is muddy outside and you don't want your new carpets to get dirty, either make a 'station' to clean shoes before entering or don't be afraid to ask your guests to remove their shoes – they'll understand! You don't want your new carpets ruined ...

• Inform your new neighbours that you’ll be throwing a party, especially if it's being  thrown at night - maybe invite them along

• Something always tends to get broken, so make sure this risk is at a minimum by placing fragile items in safe places or where they can't be reached
