With the increased awareness of contaminants and the long term health risks related to many industries, when any development involves the recycling or re-use of commercial land, the need to ensure that the new occupants will be safe in their surroundings is obviously paramount.

Some of the worst contaminants are natural, whilst others come from the less obvious uses, such as old tanneries or more modern dry cleaning methods.
