Environmental and Ecological issues are met head on
Emsworth, Hampshire
With the increased awareness of contaminants and the long term health risks related to many industries, when any development involves the recycling or re-use of commercial land, the need to ensure that the new occupants will be safe in their surroundings is obviously paramount.
Some of the worst contaminants are natural, whilst others come from the less obvious uses, such as old tanneries or more modern dry cleaning methods. However, with careful planning and the awareness of these issues, land on contaminated or dirty sites can be successful. In the current climate, environmental and ecological related issues cannot be ignored.
“Issues such as access, services and decontamination are best met head on. These issues do not solve themselves nor do they go away. They need to be resolved if the site is going to be successfully sold. If they are not resolved the value of the land can be severely reduced”
