Existing Planning Permission Is No Sure Winner
Horsham District Council’s Planning Committee granted Planning Consent for 44 units on this former equestrian centre plus existing property on a 3.2 acre site in Southwater, about 1 mile from the village centre. Section 106 negotiations took some 6 months to engross. Local residents’ objections, dormice, surface water and foul drainage, plus Social Housing at 30% to this development presented hurdles, which were eventually crossed.
Construction is now underway at ‘Martindale Place’ by Barratt Southern Counties. & Lettings
“Ever increasing legislation causes delay, even when a site is within the settlement. Hurdles such as ecology, archaeology, and the emerging Localism Bill need to be addressed and overcome. Robust planning applications are essential, as well as appealing to local residents to clear the final fence.”
