New Development in picturesque Sussex Viallage
We initially identified the site which was originally allocated for a school and having negotiated with the vendors for some 12 months, the option was exchanged in the late 90’s. The site, although greenfield is very sustainable and is set 400 metres from the High Street.
Promotional work commenced and the site was finally allocated by the Inspector for Small Sites Allocations in November 2007, this was ratified by Mid Sussex District Council in April 2008.
Detailed discussions ensued with Mid Sussex District Council over the layout, with the usual reports into ecology, highways etc. A detailed planning application was formulated and submitted to Mid Sussex District Council. This was presented to Committee in June 2008; a robust, 93 page report was prepared from the Officers. The Committee, however, resolved to refuse the application on the grounds of design.
Meetings with The Urban Design Officer at Mid Sussex District Council continued incorporating their design requirements into the scheme which was set for Committee on the 10 November 2008.
The public gallery, as on the previous occasion, was well-attended by objectors. Further presentations ensued by our client’s consultant and consent was finally granted subject to the Section 106 being completed.
